Savings Bonds<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In July 2011, the Treasury discontinued over-the-counter sales of paper U.S. Bonds through Banks. Electronic savings bonds in Series EE and I are available through purchase in TreasuryDirect\u00ae<\/sup>, a secure, web-based system operated by Public Debt \u2013 where investors have been purchasing savings bonds, available 24\/7, since 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please Note: Crest Savings Bank will continue to redeem your paper bonds1<\/sup>, however new sales will need to be placed through TreasuryDirect\u00ae<\/sup>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Money Orders \/ Official Checks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike ordinary checks, a money orders or official bank check a.k.a. cashier’s check are backed by the funds of the financial institution issuing it, rather than the payee. This makes cashier\u2019s checks unlikely to bounce. For this reason, some important transactions might call for a money order or official (cashier’s) check instead of personal checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
